Our Services

Because we see pregnancy and birth as a normal event in a woman’s life we like to think of our visits as a relaxed unrushed opportunity to answer questions and share information.

• Options for prenatal testing and screening are fully explained with benefits, risks and alternatives

• The midwife encourages you to share your perceptions, concerns, and questions as you prepare for labor

• Partners, extended family and children are welcome

• 24 hour on call paging system

Labor and Birth:

Services are provided in the comfort and privacy of your own home where you will be supported to give birth the way that suits your individual needs, beliefs and wishes. As labor and birth progress you are provided with:

    • Continuous care, support and monitoring by your midwife and a qualified birth assistant

    • Encouragement to eat, drink plenty of fluids and continue with normal activities and rest until the labor demands more of your attention

    • Support for your birth plan, including any family members and friends you may want present

    • Use of warm water immersion during labor and birth. The soothing support of water can help you to relax and ease the intensity of labor

    • The birth itself can occur in any position you choose, on the bed, out of the bed, or in the water…. you decide

    • Warm compresses and perineal support may be used to allow for the gentle birth of your baby. Once born, the baby is welcomed into your arms for bonding and breastfeeding.
